New Canon patent teases variable-exposure sensor tech



A recently published patent from Canon reveals an interesting technology capable of better correcting lens vignetting through the algorithmic-based variable exposure time.

Discovered by Egami, the patent explains the process by which a sensor could compensate for vignetting by selectively exposing different regions of the same sensor. According to the patent, the algorithms would be able to adjust to any variables presented, including different focal lengths and aperture values.
